Welcome to our new website!

After many years, we thought it was time up update our website and have it reflect the support that we offer to our community.

We wanted the new website to allow visitors to find the information they need quickly and clearly, be they victim-survivors of domestic abuse looking for help and support, professionals wanting to refer in, or donors wanting to support our charity.

It was really important for us to ensure that survivors’ voices were included in our initial discussions around the website. We had a consultation meeting where a group from our Survivors Forum talked about what they needed from the website, so that there would be no barriers for anyone experiencing domestic abuse to access vital information. We made sure that links to help and advice are the first things you see on the homepage.

We were keen to create a website that fitted with what survivors wanted to feel when they accessed it; warm, supportive, understanding, non-judgemental with information they could rely on.

We also sought input from all the team at Rising Sun. Through surveys we found staff wanted a website that was welcoming, caring, reliable and professional. We also met with service teams to make sure that all the service pages more fully explored the support offered, spoke clearly and with care to readers and answered questions they might have, so they could have confidence in accessing this support, knowing if it was suitable for them.

We are so proud of the work we do and have ensured there is now dedicated space to shout about it – be that through news posts or detailing the amazing impact we have. And for our supporters, much more clarity in how to get involved through volunteering, donating or fundraising for us.

We are a professional, credible and reliable charity, and we were keen that our website reflects that, with clear, simple design. Much of our imagery is of real members of staff, survivors and volunteers and we are grateful to have had incredible professional photos taken as part of our GSK Impact Award. These photos really demonstrate the sense of community at Rising Sun.

We are all so delighted with our new website and would love to hear any feedback. We want survivors to immediately feel they are not alone, that we are here for them. And that alongside our professional partners and supporters, we can end domestic abuse, together.
