Residents of Liberty House receive free tickets to Winter Wonderland!

Earlier this year, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland announced the return of their Winter Wishes, a free and accessible experiences that invites local charities, hospitals and underserves schools to enjoy a magical day out at the UK’s largest festive event.

On Wednesday 27th November, Winter Wonderland closed its doors to the public from 10am – 2pm, and offered exclusive free entry to 6,000 guests with unlimited access to over 100 rides and attractions. As part of Winter Wishes, Winter Wonderland operated at a significantly reduced capacity, ensuring it was accessible for those with additional financial constraints, physical and sensory sensitivities and provided additional security for victim-survivors of domestic abuse.

After seeing Winter Wishes advertised by Charity Excellence, the Liberty House team applied for free tickets to take young women and children staying at Liberty House this Christmas for a day out to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. The team were absolutely thrilled to receive the exciting news that they had been allocated free tickets to Winter Wonderland!

A day out like Winter Wonderland is a rare opportunity for the young women residing at Liberty House. They are often under financial constraints, are living within a strict safety plan to minimise risk, and can lack the confidence to take their children on day trips on their own without support. Through Winter Wishes though, four young women who are overcoming the impact of domestic abuse, along with their children, had a winter wish come true and enjoyed a one-of-a-kind day out at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

The young women enjoyed delicious festive food and drinks, a trip to Santa Land where there was a chance to meet Father Christmas in Santa’s Grotto, the Magical Ice Kingdom, plenty of rides as well as plenty of surprise entertainment throughout the day.

The residents shared that they had a really enjoyable day out at Winter Wonderland, especially with the how quiet it was meaning that they could access all of the rides and enjoy the day safely with their children.

A big thank you to Winter Wonderland for the generosity that it shows to local charities and organisations that support those who wouldn’t be able to access day’s out without initiatives like Winter Wishes!
