Guiding Lights Groups

Our Guiding Lights group programme is for adolescent girls aged 11 to 16 who are at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) or being in a coercive and controlling relationship. The programme supports them to be safe, gain confidence, self-worth, knowledge and to reengage with their communities and build positive relationships which will lead to an increase in aspirations.

Topics include:

  • healthy & unhealthy relationships
  • domestic abuse
  • staying safe online
  • consent
  • self esteem

Students get to be part of an intimate safe group, learn from their peers and learn about themselves. All students are emotionally supported by two Rising Sun Outreach workers and supported to engage in challenging and difficult conversations with specialist advice and knowledge.

Group sessions are delivered in an education setting, with approximately 6 girls in each group, for 8- 10 weeks.

Although the programme was created for those with lived experience of domestic abuse, it is appropriate and applicable to those who have no experience or history of domestic abuse.

Guiding Lights Mentoring

We offer 12-week courses of 1 to 1 mentoring with a member of staff from our Children and Young People team. Mentoring is a confidential, needs led space for children and young people to be listened to, supported and guided.

Mentoring is for young people with lived experience of domestic abuse, and it focuses on helping young people understand and build healthy relationships.

We provide mentoring through: weekly text conversations, phone calls or video calls. We are flexible with the times/lengths of conversations and can try to accommodate any additional needs.  Click here for information on how to make a referral to our services for young people.
