Our Team

Away day

Rising Sun is a values driven organisation that cares about the wellbeing and development of its team.

We hold monthly whole team meetings to share updates and learnings and we invite external speakers to join us to gain awareness of wider issues in the sector and other services available. There are regular opportunities to develop skills through shadowing others, attending online webinars, courses, and longer term training such as the IDVA qualification.

We have a great team spirit and regular wellbeing activities for everyone to take part in.

Here’s what some of our talented people say it’s like to work at Rising Sun and what you can expect from a career with us:

“I love working for the Rising Sun, it brings me a huge amount of satisfaction knowing I’ve made a positive difference in a survivor’s life. I feel I’m a small part of making a big difference in the district. And the team is such a joy to work alongside – friendly, helpful and passionate about the work they do.” —- Amy, Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser

“Rising Sun not only facilitates freedom for their clients, I feel the freedom to explore my expertise and be valued in what I can individually offer our service users. It’s the most supportive and empowering workplace I have ever had the privilege to work for. I feel honoured to be surrounded by such amazing and inspiring people!” —- Shanen, Young Women’s IDVA

“What I love about working for the Rising Sun is our belief that women are the experts in their own lives. We empower survivors and help them to access the support they need to live free from abuse. It is a privilege to be trusted by survivors through probably one of the most difficult times of their lives, this is something that we never forget or take for granted.” —-  Elaine, Head of Adult Services

“I have worked for or alongside the Rising Sun for about fifteen years and every day the team goes out of its way to support our clients using a needs led approach and it feels amazing to be part of a team with shared values and a vision for the future.” —- Outreach Team Member

“My colleagues’ passion and expertise has encouraged me to develop new skills and knowledge in order to raise awareness of domestic abuse and support survivors. There is so much to learn whilst working at Rising Sun.” —- Judith, Communications and Community Fundraising Officer

“Whenever I am asked where I work, it always fills me with such pride to say “The Rising Sun”. Working alongside such a dedicated and knowledgeable team who alongside our clients inspire me most days to do what we do. Seeing the positive impact that our work has and empowering survivors and their families is by far the most rewarding job in the world.” —- Sadie, Young Women’s IDVA

“It’s a privilege to be part of such a forward looking organisation, working alongside such committed and passionate people is uplifting.  Feedback from clients and survivors makes incredible and often emotional reading” —- Cyra, Cantercare House Manager

“I’ve only been working for the Rising Sun for a few weeks, but from day one, I was drawn by the energy, commitment and positivity from everyone in the team. I was immediately welcomed into the family and I am continually impressed with the dedication and high quality of work going on around me. It feels amazing to be part of such as positive force for good.” —-  Ingrid, Head of Children and Young People Services

“Working for The Rising Sun is like working with your favourite family members.  The passion that we all have for the work we do is palpable and ultimately we all have the same goal, to safeguard families from domestic abuse.  The job can be tough, but it’s certainly rewarding and we have a lot of fun along the way.” —- Brooke, IDVA
