Overview

Training is an essential part of fighting against domestic abuse. We have developed various programmes to suit the needs of local organisations, businesses and individuals. Our training is delivered by to two experienced professionals in the field of Domestic Violence. Helly Langley and Anne Lyttle, both have over 20 years relevant and practical knowledge.

With support from Canterbury City Council we are offering free training sessions to local businesses, organisations and individuals in the district. Registration is necessary to attend, please click on the link below to register. These are

17 September 9:30 – 12:30
A guide for employers: a workplace response to domestic violence
Ideal for managers and line-managers to help support staff who experience domestic abuse.

19 November 9:30 – 12:30
The effects of domestic violence on children and young people
Ideal for those who work with children and young people or support families with young children.

14 January 9:30 – 12:30
Making safe enquiries within the workplace
This training is suitable for those who work with people and are providing front-line support.

27 January 9:30 – 12:30
Understanding trauma around domestic abuse*
This training is ideal for those wanting to gain a greater understanding of trauma connected to domestic abuse

10 March 9:30 – 12:30
A basic understanding of how civil and criminal law systems can support those affected by domestic abuse

Rising Sun delivered training to 324 practitioners, who help 19,440 victims of abuse

Who is it for?

Our training is suitable for practitioners,businesses working in generic services. It helps them to gain confidence working with individuals, families and children who they may be in contact with.

Domestic abuse training can also be provided in-house to your staff (either at our offices or at your workplace), to work around your needs and timeframes. Our bespoke training has included the following areas:

Costs for Agencies for bespoke training

  • £100 per hour up to a maximum of 50 delegates
  • Reductions are available for charitable organisations
  • Costs will include a printed course outline.
